Aluminium Grade 5052 5083

5xxx aluminum alloys have stronger corrosion resistance to seawater. As a non-heat treatable strengthened alloy, the main strengthening methods of Al-Mg alloy are solid solution strengthening and deformation strengthening. As the Mg content increases, the mechanical strength of Al-Mg alloy gradually increases.

Aluminium grade 5052 is an Al-Mg alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and medium strength. It is suitable for the manufacture of economical aluminum alloy ships. Compared with the 1xxx pure aluminum alloys, the tensile strength of 5052 is 210-230, the hardness is 100% higher than the 1060 aluminum alloy and the elongation is also increased by 12-20%.

In the international code, 5052 aluminum plate can also be called almg2.5, which also means that the content of mg alloy is around 2.5% (between 2.2-2.6), with low density (2.68). It has high strength, and strong machinability, which is suitable for bending, stamping, drawing and other processing processes.

Aluminum alloy yachts for freshwater lakes are mostly made of 5052-H32 or 5052-0 aluminum plates, while luxury yachts at sea are generally made of high-magnesium alloy 5083H116 or 5083H321 aluminum plates, and they have good corrosion resistance.

Although 5052 aluminum is easier to process and form, 5083 aluminum sheet can provide approximately 1.5 times the tensile and yield strength. Tensile strength refers to the maximum stress a material can withstand before being pulled apart. Yield strength refers to the material's ability to resist trace plastic deformation. Beyond this limit, the material will not be able to return to its original shape and will be permanently deformed.

5083 grade aluminum is a typical rust-proof aluminum plate. Its corrosion resistance, processability, strength, etc. meet the processing requirements of marine aluminum plates. It is widely used in the superstructure and upper devices of various types of ships.

In the marine aluminum plate market, classification societies require marine grade aluminum sheets to strictly abide by the standardization of marine industry standards. Haomei Aluminum has got the certifications of several classification societies. The certification scope of DNV certification is 5083 alloy (O, H111, H112, H116) with a thickness of 3~50mm and a maximum width of 2400mm.
