Marine Aluminum Sheet and Welding Wire
5086, 5083 and marine 5052 aluminum plates are top three aluminum alloys for shipbuilding. 5052 aluminum alloy is one of the 5xxx series aluminum alloys with a Mg content of 2.2%-2.8%. It has the characteristics of light weight, medium strength, good corrosion resistance and weldability, and easy processing and forming performance.
In the international code, 5052 aluminum plate can also be called almg2.5, which also means that the content of mg alloy (magnesium alloy) is around 2.5% (between 2.2-2.6), with low density (2.68), high strength and strong machinability. It is an excellent product suitable for bending, stamping, stretching and other processing techniques. According to different annealing times and processes, 5052 aluminum plates can be divided into multiple states with different hardness.
Although 5052 aluminum is easier to process and form, 5083 aluminum can provide approximately 1.5 times the tensile and yield strength. This means that when other conditions such as thickness are the same, a boat made mainly of 5083 aluminum alloy can withstand greater pressure when it is hit than a boat mainly made of fiberglass, steel plate, or 5052 aluminum alloy.
Marine welding wire is used for welding filler metal in ship construction or as a conductive metal wire such as submerged arc welding wire and gas shielded welding wire. In gas welding and gas tungsten arc welding, the welding wire is used as a filler metal; in submerged arc welding, electroslag welding and other gas tungsten arc welding, the welding wire is both a filler metal and a conductive electrode. The surface of the welding wire is not coated with anti-oxidation flux.
5183 aluminum welding wire is generally used as filler metal for AlMg4.5Mn alloy. It contains: 4.3-5.0% magnesium, 0.5-1.0% manganese and appropriate chromium and titanium. It can be used for MIG or TIG welding of spools or longitudinal cuts in industries such as ships, drilling equipment, trains, automobiles, storage tanks and pressure vessels. Its applicable base metals include 5083, 5086, 5456, 5052, 5652 and 5056. The color of ER5183 after anodization is white and the tensile strength of the weld is 294MP.
