Marine grade aluminium sheet for yachts

The application of marine aluminum sheet in shipbuilding is popular around the world. In particular, marine grade aluminium sheet gains popularity among yacht manufacturers with light weight, strong corrosion resistance to seawater and excellent mechanical properties.

Marine aluminium sheets have excellent corrosion resistance and can effectively resist the adverse effects of seawater on the use and service life of ships. As an an electrolyte solution, seawater corrodes aluminum alloy in an electrochemical way, which is specifically manifested in the form of pitting corrosion. The corrosion rate of 5000 series alloys by seawater is extremely slow, among which low-magnesium alloys, like 5083 and 5059, are more resistant to corrosion. 6000 series alloys can reach 100% corrosion resistance to seawater. As a result, both series are widely used in yacht building.

The mechanical properties of marine grade aluminium sheets are excellent, too. They have high toughness, good processing and forming performance, outstanding welding performance and small elastic modulus. All these cater for building requirements of modern yachts. In addition, the processing cost of aluminum is lower, so it is more economical to use aluminum sheets to make yachts.

Haomei supplies 5052, 5083, 5059 and 5456 aluminium sheets for yachts, with thickness from 3mm to 50mm, and width up to 3800mm. Welcome to contact us!
