Marine Grade Aluminum Sheet 5052 Hardness

5052 aluminum plate is a material with excellent mechanical properties. Its mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness, and elongation are excellent. In terms of tensile strength, 5052 aluminum plates have higher strength than other common aluminum plates and can better withstand external forces.

In terms of hardness, 5052 aluminum hardness is excellent and can ensure that they are not easily deformed when under pressure. In terms of elongation, 5052 aluminum plates also have good elongation and can withstand stretching without breaking.

5052 aluminum plate hardness

1. The Webster hardness of aluminum alloy should be around 12H, and the Brinell hardness should be 120-160HB.

2. The most common one is 5052-H32 aluminum plate, Brinell hardness 60HB.

In addition to excellent mechanical properties, 5052 aluminum plates also have significant lightweight advantages. This means that the weight of the ship is also significantly reduced while maintaining strength and stiffness requirements.

Tempers of 5052 aluminum sheet

5052-H32 aluminum sheet is a hot-rolled aluminum plate and is mostly used for thin plates. Depending on the production process, it is generally hot rolled in a hot rolling mill, followed by 1-2 cold rolling, annealing, and finishing into finished products.

5052-H112 aluminum plate has been thermally hardened and is a hot-formed aluminum plate, mostly used for thick plates.

5052-H24 aluminum plate is a hot-rolled aluminum plate. Aluminum plates in this state are rarely used, so few manufacturers produce them.

5052-O aluminum plate is an annealed aluminum plate, commonly known as soft state.

5052 aluminum sheet properties

1. Forming properties

The alloy has good plasticity in hot process. The forging and die forging temperature is 420~475°C, and thermal deformation with a deformation rate of 80% is performed within this temperature range.

The cold stamping performance is related to the alloy state. The cold stamping performance in the annealed (O) state is good, followed by the H32 and H34 states, and the H36/H38 state is not good.

2. Welding properties

This alloy has good gas welding, arc welding, resistance welding, spot welding, and seam welding properties. Crystal cracks tend to appear during argon arc welding. The performance of hard soldering is good, but the performance of soft soldering is poor.

The weld has high strength and plasticity, and the weld strength reaches 90% to 95% of the strength of the base metal. However, the air tightness of the weld is not high. It is recommended to use 5A03 alloy as solder, which can improve its air tightness and reduce the tendency of cracks.

3. Machining performance

The cutting performance of this alloy is not good in the annealed state, but is improved in the cold work hardened state. Welcome to leave message below to inquire marine grade aluminum sheet price.
