Marine grade aluminum sheet price
Marine grade aluminum sheet price depends on the alloy, thickness and sizes of the sheet, among which alloy plays the most important role. Generally the outer plates of the side and bottom of the ship can be made of 5083 aluminum plate, 5086 aluminum plate, 5456 aluminum plate and 5052 aluminum plate. These alloys share a common property of excellent corrosion resistance that helps to resist the erosion of seawater and prolong the life of the ship.
5052/5754 aluminum alloy sheet has good corrosion resistance and welding performance. It has an even better seawater corrosion resistance than 1200. Typical applications include pressure vessels, storage tanks, pipe fittings, yacht hulls, floating boats and car bodies.
5083 aluminum alloy is stronger than any of the above alloys. It is a typical aluminum marine grade sheet. In addition to shipbuilding, it is used for high-strength welding applications such as railway wagons, ship parts, bridges, static cryogenic containers and overhead cranes that require outstanding joint strength.
5086 aluminum sheet is very suitable for welding structures-hulls and superstructures, tankers, pressure vessels, mobile and fixed cryogenic vessels, and structures with high energy absorption requirements.
5454 alloy is not so well-known as a marine grade aluminum sheet, but it is used for all types of welded structures. ASME code approved for use at temperatures up to 400o F = 204.4oC. It is used for hot asphalt tanker, dump body, pressure vessel and ship structure.
The 5052 marine grade aluminum sheet price is the lowest, and 5086 the highest. If you have no special requirements, 5083 is recommended, for its cost efficiency is the highest.
